Hello, my name is Geoff and I invite you to be my guest on my unique and high quality experiences of Launceston and/or our iconic Cataract Gorge. I will be your personal host on all of the experiences I provide and you will not only find out fascinating facts but be entertained with colourful stories.
As a local historian and tour host I began sharing my passion and knowledge for Launceston with my guests back in 2005. Over that period I have also become a Tasmanian Aboriginal historian and knowledge sharer. As a former lecturer in Aboriginal histories and cultures at the University of Tasmania and having spent significant time on-country with Elders my knowledge is comprehensive and unmatched. And as a professional researcher I have the ability to give you the very best of experiences.
I take great pleasure in providing the most personal experiences possible and as a born and bred Launceston person I have 55 years of personal stories that link into Launceston’s history. A history that is fascinating, tragic,romantic, comedic and entertaining. I also have partnerships with others that enable me to take you into some of Launceston's incredible heritage buildings.
It is not only Launceston’s history that I have a deep passion for but also our iconic Cataract Gorge. Anyone can take a wander through the Gorge, and you certainly do not need a paid guide to experience the main tracks and basic histories as there are many interpretive panels in place, and the Basin Cottage has some wonderful historical information and photos. However, our Cataract Gorge is a truly amazing and spiritual place that has some hidden gems not known to many.
To truly experience little known gems, such as the ‘Hidden Valley’, and find out about Tasmanian Aboriginal spiritual and cultural connections then I invite you to come with me. No one else can give you the truly unique personal experiences and adventurous behind the scenes exploration of the Cataract Gorge and Launceston's fascinating history.
